  • I need to work on a GAME

Yeah as the title says I really want to work on a game but I just don't know what to make. Why does this have to be so difficult. Why why why....

I really like tower defense games, rpg games, and strategy games. You would think it would be easy to come up with something. I also like simple games that don't take too much time to play but those get boring after a while I want something I can enjoy working on and playing for a while.

Ugh, anyhow back to calculus....Then maybe a nap. I'm tired.

  • New Desk!!! Yay!! Finally

For a while now I have wanted a new computer desk one that is made of metal and glass. A desk that I would have room to do homework on and match my computer. I was trying to pay off my credit card bill, but I couldn't pass up this offer so I took it and got a nice desk for $140. Not a bad price considering most of the ones I had found before were $170+.

    Nice eh? :)

  • I need a new job

I've been working for the same company for over 2 years and I think it is about time for me to move on. The company I work for is paying me peanuts to do a job that is more involved than just flipping burgers. Yet someone flipping burgers is paid more money than me. Ahh...the life of a developer. People expect something for practically nothing which is basically how I'm paid at this point and to be honest I'm getting rather sick of it. I have bills to pay and I'm currently going back to college to get my bachelors degree. Yes, I have an associates degree. But that is no reason to pay me less than someone working a minimum wage job.

Finding a job to fit my schedule isn't easy. I currently work from home and most companies want developers on site. My school schedule doesn't really allow me to drive very far or work normal hours. That is my main problem. Plus, I need time to do homework. This goes back to my last post. I'd really like to work for myself maybe even doing freelance work or coming up with a project to make me some money.

Life sucks...Back to calculus then maybe some WoW with my girlfriend.

Thank god spring break is next week!

  • Brainstorm or Brainfart

I have been thinking these past few days that I really need to begin a project and actually complete it. I have wanted for a year or two to begin work on a project which would hopefully make me some money or at least be something I could show others or help others in some way. The hardest part about starting a project is coming up with the idea for what you want to do. Ironic... So I have had a few ideas in the past. None that I feel too attached too or think wow that is a great idea. I shoot ideas past other people trying to see what they feel about them. This post will be about those ideas and maybe I will get some feedback.

Idea #1: File and media organizer/viewer
Sometimes you have too many files to keep track of and a program like this would keep them all in organized folders and locations. It would also allow the user to display that media (Movies, music, images, etc.) Sort of like an all around organizer and media player for all file types. The features don't have to stop there but I don't really know what else an organizer could or would do to make someones life on a computer better.

    Idea #2: Social Entertainment Site
This would be a website which would contain lists of games, music, movies, programs, websites and whatever else where people could add content. Sort of like a wikipedia site. The content would be user controlled and people would be able to rate the entertainment, comment on the entertainment, and keep lists of ones that are their favorites for others to see. All entertainment lists will be sortable by most popular (number of high level ratings by users), release date, number of views, and by the number of people who have it in their favorite list. People will be allowed to have friends linked to their profiles and possibly write posts about their favorite entertainment for others to see. This site would be good for allowing independent artists, directors, and game programmers to be visible by more people and introduce people to new forms of entertainment. A section of your profile once logged in will give a list of other things that may interest you depending on the things already in your favorites list.

Idea #3: Offline File Transfer and Sharing program
This one is a favorite of mine but also suffers from legal issues. There have been times where I was in class and forgot to bring my flash drive to school which contained an essay or document I was working on for class. This little tool would be a mix between software and a website. The software would keep certain files up to date on the server and the server would have a website to allow people to access and manage their file transfer account. This account would store all your needed files and allow access from anywhere as long as there was internet access. There would be friend lists which would allow you to send files to users for them to download at any time even if you were offline. The file transfer would contain a note along with the file you are trying to send the user.

Idea #4: Some kind of game
I'd like to make a game anything at all as long as it turned out to be fun. Coming up with an idea for a game is very difficult and requires much imagination. Making money from an independent game is very difficult and probably wouldn't be very profitable in the long run. But I do enjoy games and would love to have something to show off my talents for potential employers some day. Once I have some game ideas I might post them but as I said this would probably be my last option in the money making category.

I hope to get some feedback on my post hopefully. But I know there are only 2 people that currently read this as it is.
